Magic Kingdom Virgin versus Disneyland Seasoned Veteran

Wow!  What an experience! My family has frequented Disneyland 1-2 times yearly for many years. This summer we decided to venture out and explore Disney World……

Today was Magic Kingdom for 16 hours….

Space Mountain ride lost big time to DL. Big Thunder Mountain was about the same. Winnie The Pooh won out at Magic Kingdom. Pirates of the Caribbean was closed today—yikes, say it isn’t so, that’s our all-time favorite DL ride! Jungle Cruise was about the same. It’s A Small Wolrd was comparable, but noted that MK hasn’t added in Disney characters like DL has. Love that MK still has the People Mover, Country Bear Jamboree and Carousel of Progress.

We liked that the walkways were wider at MK. We noticed there were far less churro stands, that could be good or bad….

We disliked the difficulty of getting in and out of the park!  Shuttle to Monorail and back. Missed our shuttle because of madness getting out of the park. Taxi ride was $28 each way…..Yikes!  At DL we aways stay within a mile of the park and walk!  Don’t have to worry about shuttle times and such that way!

We did get the privilege of eating at the Be Our Guest Restaurant…fun experience and not too pricey!  We feel the cast members are friendlier at DL…And we are not drenched in sweat in So Cal either!

All in all, based soley off Magic Kingdom, without experiencing the other Disney parks yet, Disneyland wins by a long slide!

Sunday Night Blues

Sunday night is upon us…..

Who else is prepping for the work week?

Getting clothes ready, lunch made, dinners prepped for the week, setting the alarm?

THE MONDAY MORNING DREAD….ugh…yuck!

I feel ya!  I am working hard to retire from the corporate world in my early 40’s so that I can live my life by design….so I can travel when I want to, get up at my leisure each morning, take a two hour massage appointment mid day on a Tuesday if I choose, etc.

WHY should we work so hard for someone else to live THE GOOD LIFE?  I don’t mind hard work, but I would much rather work hard for MYSELF to live the good life!

BeachBody is giving me that opportunity!  I get paid to improve my own health, help others live healthier and play on social media!  HELLO!  YES PLEASE!  SIGN ME UP!  That is what I said just a few short months ago when I was presented with this amazing opportunity.  And now I am making extra money each month and NOT living paycheck to paycheck.  I am working out at least 5 times a week instead of 2.  I have far more energy.  This LIFE BY DESIGN has been such a blessing.  I have met lots of like-minded people and am making new, amazing friendships and I get RECOGNIZED for the people I help each month!

AND….I get to travel!  I have not traveled much in my first 40 years of life but plan to change that in the next 40!  I have not even had the opportunity to travel for work until now!  Nashville, here I come!!!!  So excited for my first BeachBody Summit – get to meet coaches in person, workout with celebrity trainers, buy workout apparel and the new CIZE dance workout and FIXATE cookbook before everyone else!  SO EXCITED for this amazing opportunity!

Despite having the Sunday Night Blues, I have much to be thankful for and look forward to!  Blessed Beyond Measure!  Thank you Jesus!

Good Health

Health is all encompassing. It is not what size jeans you wear, how much you can squat or how fast your mile time is…..  It is so much more!

Good health is how well your cardiovascular system works. Your heart is a muscle and needs to be in optimal shape. Good health is how many nutrients you put into your body to keep it running smoothly. You organs do a lot of work.  Good health is decreasing your stress levels. Good health is consuming at least half your body weight in ounces of water each day. Good health is performing weight-bearing exercises to keep yor bones strong. Good health is getting 7-8 hours of sleep each night. Good health is many things combined.

Do you value your health?

If you look in the mirror and like what you see, you may not. You may think all is well. However just because all may look well on the outside, doesn’t mean it is on the inside.

If you look in the mirror and dislike what you see, you may or may not value your health. Many patients I see daily weigh hundreds of pounds and are on multiple medications for their diseases and still continue to feed their bodies with fast food crap and soda and junk!  However, sometimes the pain from the extra weight or poking your finger with a needle multiple times a day or not being able to enjoy life with your children because you are out of breath or you had a cancer scare but got lucky-sometimes those things happening to yourself or a loved one are enough for your to value your health!

Typical Day

0645 comes early at least four days a week…….

Really early, considering I set my alarm for 0345 to get my 21 day fix extreme workout in BEFORE I head off to save lives.  I realize I must first save my own life!  I get up early, really early, not because it takes me nearly three hours to fix my hair and makeup but because I know that my busy, chaotic day will be much more manageable if I start it off right.  I wake up then pray and drink warm lemon water.  Then until 0430 I read some personal development book, like Failing Forward or You are a Badass.  At 0430 the workout of the day begins…..yoga, 21 day fix/extreme, T25, Combat….something that is about 30 minutes-that is what I have time for!  Afterward, I do a little FB time, shower, find some scrubs and heavy duty deodorant of course!  0600 is time for some Shakeology, Ningxia Red, Mindwise, and a touch of coffee to start my day……

I arrive to find night shift ready to get the heck out of dodge!  And myself ready to pee for the fifth time after all my morning liquid!  I take over anywhere from 1-4 patients and will carry that load for the next 8-12 hours.  OK, 16 hours on a RARE occasion! I don’t ever have the same 1-4 patients for that time frame though.  Patients come and go far more often than that in our department.  I barely get to know their names before they are gone and a new one fills the room.  Thats the ER life….we fix, or try to fix, whats emergent and move on…..CPR, heart attack, stroke, appendicitis, sepsis-OK those get more time and attention, of course! Need a new prescription for that narc that starts with a “d” for your chronic back pain?  Yeah, we see lots of those patients too!

Either way…ER nursing is intense, emotional, stressful, trying, busy, causes sadness, madness, jokes and more!  I know if I don’t first care for MYSELF, there is no way I can care for your scared, hurt, crying 7 year old child!  I do everything I can to be in great shape, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually before walking into that building each morning!
